A new direction?

Hi guys, so many of ye might have noticed that I’ve been a bit MIA for a while and I have been considering a few things about the future of this blog.

I was just wondering if there is anything you guys would like to see? Any specific content? Or even possibly splitting this blog into 2? I have noticed a lot of the people who view and enjoy the book blogs may not enjoy the beauty and visa versa.

So I would really appreciate anyone who’d reading this to let me know what you think in the comments below xx

Pet peeves for a bookworm

I hope all you book fans find this entertaining!

1. When you buy a book get home and realise some of the pages are crinkled and bent.

2. When people make fun of you for reading.

3. When the first book is amazing and you have to wait 2 years for the second one.

4. When a book has an incredible cover and blurb and is a terrible book.

5. When the people in the book store start staring at you because you’ve been standing at the shelf looking and touching the books for over an hour and you’re not buying anything.

6. When all you get for Christmas is books.

7. When people buy you books that you have no interest in. Amazing and heartbreaking at the same time.

8. When you can’t find a bookmark and refused to damage the pages of the book so you have to use a random object.

8. When they change the design or colour scheme of the covers midway through a series.

9. When the love triangle doesn’t go the way you want.

10. When you realise you have an endless tbr and will forever be buying new bookshelves for all your books.

11. When people say they hate your favourite books.

12. When people say you should throw away your books and you have to explain its like a child without seeming crazy.

13. When people tell you books are a waste of money.

14. When the library has no good books left.

15. When they make a series out of your favourite book that doesn’t follow the story line.

Well here’s 15 pet peeves I know I have about books! What are yours? Let me know in the comments.

Winter skin tips

I know many of ye might be like me and have been burdened with combination skin. For some people it is fine, unfortunately not for me. I some times end up with the worst of both worlds.

Some days it’s dry and flakey some days it’s oily and shiny. So how do you deal with it? The real answer, a press full of every type of skin care that does absolutely everything because your skin will probably need it at some stage.

So here are some tips to deal with this chilly time of year.

1. Moisturise

This cold air can really take a toll on your skin so even those oily skinned girls should keep up with their moisturising routine.

2. Treat yourself

This time of year is the season of giving so this winter give a little back to your skin with a nice relaxing face mask. Light a few candles and really treat your skin to a pamper evening.

3. Don’t neglect your skin

All the late nights and Christmas parties can really leave you drained and not motivated to do the basics like remove make up. If all you do is remove your make up before your sleep it can really save your skin.

4. Make sure you drink

Now I mean water, even though a lot of other things will be drank over the festive season. Its important to make sure you keep up your water intake over the holidays and I promise you your skin will thank you.

5. Take care of your lips

In this weather chapped dry lips can be the bane of your life, especially when it makes your new lipstick look dry and crusty. A good lip balm should always be on you. I must admit all year round you will find a lip balm in my pocket or handbag.

If ye have any other tips feel free to share them, I hope you enjoy this post and I’ll talk to you later.

My Christmas make up look

Hey guys, I have never done a make up look so I’m not really sure what I’m doing but this was a look that I got a lot of compliments on so I said I’d share it with you guys.

The base

Once I had my skin prepped for the make up I started by using Estee Lauder double wear foundation in the shade 1N1. This is a matte foundation with an SPF 10 and is extremely long wear.

Next I used the max factor panstick in the shade 13. I put this on the outer parts of my face as a subtle cream contour.

After that used collection lasting perfection concealer in the shade 1 fair to cover my under eye darkness.

I then set my face with the maybelline matte maker powder in 10 classic ivory.

I used my sleek contour kit to add more definition and to highlight my cheekbones, nose, Cupid’s bow and brow bone.

The eyes

As I have blue eyes I went for a copper look on my eyes to really make them pop. I started by blending a cranberry matte shade into my crease and the outer corner of my eyes. I then packed a ps pigment in the shade copper daze all over my lid. I then topped it off with another ps eye pigment in the shade gold digger in the inner corner of my eye. I then blended a small amount of the cranberry shade under my eye. I used a black eyeliner to line my tight line and coated my lashes in rimmel extra 3D lashes mascara.

I keep it simple with my brows. I used a brown eyeshadow pencil sparsely through my brows and then brushed it through.

I really tried to make my eyes the focus of the look so I went from a light brown matte lipstick by w7 in the Shade nude

The brushes I used were my real techniques and a selection from the primark range.

Here are some swatched of the products I mentioned:

From left to right it is the cranberry shade I used, the pigment in copper daze and then gold digger and the matte lipstick in nude.

I hope you guys enjoyed this it’s my first one so I’m not sure how good this is so please let me know any constructive criticism is welcome.

Sleek contour kit

Hey guys today I will be reviewing a sleek product.

I purchased this sleek face contour kit on littlewood for €8.99 I believe I’m not certain of the price but it was around that.

For the price I think this is a good product I got mine in the shade light and I find it quite good and also has good pigmentation.

I find it quite hard to get a highlighter that’s light enough for my skin tone so something like this is actually perfect for me.

Is it the perfect? No.

But for the price it’s definitely good enough for me for a daily basis as I like to keep my more expensive make up for special occasions.

I hope you guys enjoyed and if ye have tried it let me know what ye thought.

Fugitive review

Ok guys sorry for the lack of content for the past few weeks, college work exams everything. Ye all know how life can just get in the way.

Now today’s post is going to be a review of the book fugitives by Aubrey Flegg. Now many of ye might be wondering why ye haven’t see this on my tbr or where the other reviews are.

The truth is I fell behind and instead of trying to spend weeks catching up I decided it might be better to just start again from where I am now. Also I am horrific at keeping to a list and have completely changed my tbr again. If there is anything ye really want to see a review for just let me know and I will do it X

Goodreads synopsis:

When young Con disappears, the others must find him – and quickly. His father Hugh O’Neill, the great Ulster chieftain, is about to depart Ireland, forever.

Ok so this isn’t a good summary of the story at all so I will try to give you all a back story.

This book is an Irish historical fiction book so it may not suit ye all.

It’s based on quite a well known period of Irish history called the flight of the earls which in a nutshell was when Irish earls fled from Ireland due to the persecution they endured.

This book is told from the perspective of multiple children and shows the impact and the importance that many of the children at this time.

This book is definitely a child friendly book and is probably aimed more towards children due to the basic use of language.

I must warn you though if you are not Irish and are not familiar with Irish names or the Irish language you might find some of the names to be a bit of a mouthful.

Overall I did enjoy the book and it was quite an easy and interesting read.

I would give it 3.5/5 no major problems but just not one of the best books I’ve read.

I know this is quite short but I hope ye enjoyed it and I’ll talk to you soon xx
